The Louisiana Technology Council has launched a new e-learning platform that will enable people to take online courses directly from their website. The platform is a 3^rd party system powered by Portico Learning Solutions that provides businesses with leadership training, custom e-learning courseware, and learning management software. Right out the gate, LTC’s e-training center offers over 2,000 online professional courses in more than 100 subjects. These courses range from IT skills such as software development, ERP system, and networking to business essentials such as maritime security and project management certifications.

Mark Lewis, President of the Louisiana Technology Council explains why his organization felt this platform was needed. “We have businesses that have to send their people away for certain types of trainings and we knew it would be more cost effective for them take it online at a reduce cost with the added convenience of being able to do it at their leisure.” says Mr. Lewis.

Most courses range between $36.00 to $79.00 per course while more in-depth courses or certifications can range between $125.00 to $320.00. Jaclyn Craddock, Membership Director for the LTC tells us that all the current prices on the site reflect the price scale for non-LTC members.  LTC members have the privilege of getting 10% discount off each courses. “We hope this adds value to the community and we encourage anyone to sign up.  We’ll be running specials through different times of the year for up to 20% discount off the cost of a course” says Ms. Craddock.

Large businesses can create corporate accounts, giving them the ability to manage training sessions for their employees and building a bundled curriculum for them. Individual users will get an online account where they can manage their course, transcripts, or certificates.
