What Java Has Done For The Community
Java, a programming language originally develop at Sun Microsystems has played a major roll in the advancements of applications across computers and mobile devices. Currently, more than nine million developers use the platform which is going into its 15th year. Because of its portability, the Java platform can run on numerous hardware/operating system platforms. During the road show, developers hope to show off recent developments include the JavaFX Platform and Enterprise Edition 6. According to Oracle, other demonstrations will include how the platform can be used to build rich internet apps for desktops, tablets, mobile devices, and TV's. These include:
- JavaFX for TV, which provides an environment for developing and compiling JavaFX applications and for demonstrating them in an emulated television environment.
- The JavaFX Authoring Tool, which offers a collaborative environment for visual content developers to create cloud-based, interactive rich applications. The tool allows importing and compositing of graphical, audio, and video assets. Authors can add interactions, animations, and visual effects to create experiences that can be deployed across browser, desktop, and mobile devices.
- Two innovative JavaFX applications, built for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games, which enabled sports enthusiasts around the world to explore historical results from past Olympic Winter Games and follow results in real time.
