Attention Web Geeks & Techies: Drupal, the content management system that you know and love is holding its annual conference entitled, Do It With Drupal on December 9th, 10th, and 11th in our city.  The seminars will focus on configuration, architecture, and processes behind building successful Drupal websites and communities.  Hosted at the New Orleans Marriott Hotel, Drupal is throwing some big names into the pot for their community such as Dries

Buytaert, original creator and project lead for the platform, Kristina Halvorson, keynote speaker, founder and President of Brain Traffic, and Angela Byron, an open source evangelist who lives and breathes Drupal.

Drupal, for those of you who are unfamiliar with the platform or like to play on the WordPress playground is an open source content management system platform.  The web based software is mostly used to manage websites and make it easier for content editors to update, maintain and build their website will little knowledge of the technical aspect of web design.  Drupal is build on a PHP framework, has a large developer community, and recently won the best open source PHP CMS for the second year in a row.  Some popular sites that run Drupal are Craig's List, Economist.com, and even the tech savvy White House.

Sponsored by Lullabot, a company that provides consulting and training on Drupal, the seminars will cover topics such as Configuring a kick ass WYSIWYG editor, Credibility And Trust On The Web, and Investing in Open Source.  Each day starts up off with breakfast, a central theme, and then breaks off into smaller engaging workshops by key players in the Drupalsphere.  Most notably on the schedule is the extra day after the conference, December 12th.  Participants can stay an extra day in New Orleans for a community outreach project with Habitat for Humanity.  So not only do you soak up three days of tech learning and New Orleans culture but you also get to give back to our wonderful city.
